Fishing in Port Huron

Water activities, sports and recreation are everything in Port Huron during the summer. With a wide variety of water systems and channels, the city’s location also offers prime fishing opportunities. Either BYOB (bring your own boat), rent one for the day or take a chartered trip.

The Perfect Catch

  • Boat Launches - Port Huron offers two boat launches (12th Street and Riverside Dr.) on the Black River. Both provide access to the St. Clair River and Lake Huron. Seasonal permits or daily launch fees are required from May 1 to October 31 annually.

  • Lake Huron provides ample walleye, salmon, steelhead, perch and sturgeon for fishing enthusiasts. Hire local charter Captain B. (Brian Meredith) or arrange for other charter excursions for a day of adventure and sport. Anderson’s Pro Bait serves as Port Huron’s “premier fishing tackle and bait store.”

  • Desmond Marine offers boat rentals and is the premier destination in downtown Port Huron for boating gear, safety items and refueling.

  • Boat Rentals are available at Jay’s Marine, located on the Desmond Marine campus.

 Tourism Tip:

Check out the annual Salmon Stakes Fishing Tournament and stock up at Desmond Marine before any boat outing.
